Google Launches New Gmail “Manage Subscriptions” Tool to Help Users Declutter Inboxes
July 8, 2025
Google announced on Tuesday the rollout of a new Gmail feature called “Manage subscriptions”, designed to help users easily control and clean up their subscription emails. The tool is now launching on the web, Android, and iOS in select countries.
What Does the New Feature Do?
With Manage subscriptions, users can:
See all their active subscription emails grouped in one place
View senders organized by how frequently they email
Check how many messages each sender has sent recently
Quickly unsubscribe from unwanted subscriptions with a single click
If a user chooses to unsubscribe, Gmail will send the unsubscribe request directly to the sender — simplifying what can often be a tedious process.
Why This Matters
Subscription emails can quickly overwhelm inboxes with “daily deal alerts,” old newsletters, and promotional emails from long-forgotten retailers, as Chris Doan, Gmail’s director of product, explained in a recent blog post.
This tool joins other Gmail features aimed at inbox decluttering, like last year’s one-click unsubscribe button, which removed the hassle of hunting for unsubscribe links buried in emails or on websites.
How to Access It
Users can find Manage subscriptions by clicking the navigation bar in the top-left corner of their Gmail inbox and selecting the new option.
Rollout Timeline
Web: Starting Tuesday
Android: From July 14
iOS: From July 21
Google notes it could take up to 15 days from the rollout start for everyone to get access.
The feature is available to all Google Workspace customers, Workspace Individual subscribers, and personal Google account users.
