Google Turns NotebookLM into a Discovery Hub with Curated Notebooks from Top Authors and Institutions
July 14, 2025
Google is evolving its AI-powered research and note-taking assistant, NotebookLM, into a more immersive and content-rich destination. On Monday, the company announced the launch of a new featured collection of public notebooks, created in collaboration with renowned publications, researchers, authors, and nonprofits. The aim: to provide users with ready-made deep dives into topics ranging from health and finance to travel, parenting, and literature.
The curated launch lineup includes content from The Economist, The Atlantic, and various academic and expert contributors. The notebooks are designed to showcase how NotebookLM can be used as a tool not only for personal note organization but also for interactive learning and exploration.
With the new feature, users can read original source material, ask questions, explore related topics, and receive AI-generated answers with proper citations. NotebookLM also supports Audio Overviews, letting users listen to summaries of the notebooks, and offers a Mind Maps tool that helps visualize key themes and ideas.
This new direction for NotebookLM builds on the platform’s recently added public sharing feature, which has seen over 140,000 public notebooks shared since launching last month. Google plans to continually expand its featured notebook library, with future content expected from its partners at The Economist and The Atlantic, among others.
The first batch of featured notebooks, available starting today on the desktop version of NotebookLM, includes:
Longevity advice from Eric Topol, author of Super Agers
2025 predictions and expert analysis from The Economist’s The World Ahead report
Life guidance from Arthur C. Brooks based on his How to Build A Life columns in The Atlantic
A science fan’s guide to Yellowstone National Park with geology and biodiversity insights
A notebook from Our World In Data on long-term trends in human well-being
Parenting advice based on psychology professor Jacqueline Nesi’s Techno Sapiens newsletter
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare, accessible for student and scholarly analysis
A tracker of Q1 earnings reports from the world’s top 50 public companies, ideal for financial analysts
By blending structured knowledge with conversational AI, Google’s NotebookLM is redefining what note-taking apps can offer — not just as productivity tools, but as dynamic platforms for discovery, research, and learning.
